Britain facing MORE storm and snow fears as maps reveal where 'very powerful' 250mph Jet Stream will bring strong winds and torrential downpours later this week

Gusts of up to 80mph could hit western Scotland this Friday, with 60 to 70mph widely across the rest of Scotland, North West England, North West Wales and Northern Ireland.

A "very powerful" jet stream with winds up to 250 mph is expected to bring potentially disruptive weather to Britain beginning Friday. This system could result in a named storm, heavy rain, snow, strong winds, damage to buildings, and travel disruption. The jet stream, fueled by a clash of tropical and arctic air, is expected to undergo explosive cyclogenesis, or weather bomb, in the Atlantic.
